l´Australien [naturalisé
américain] Rupert Murdoch est
né en 1931 à Melbourne. Après des
études de philosophie, d´économie et
de sciences politiques à Oxford, il
hérite du quotidien Adelaïde News, qui
lui sert de tremplin pour le groupe de
presse qu´il crée en Australie. Puis il
acquiert à Londres News of the World, le
Times, le Sun, le Sunday Times, et crée
des chaînes TV par satellites. Aux USA,
il achète la 20th Century Fox, le New
York Post, un magazine TV, les éditions
Harper-Collins et crée un réseau
national de chaînes TV locales. Il
s´est implanté en Asie en créant à
Hongkong la chaîne par satellites Star
TV.

politique "digne de foi", Bruce
Anderson, un éditorialiste du quotidien
"Independent" (centre gauche),
Tony Blair aurait incité le magnat de la
presse australien Rupert Murdoch à
intensifier ses attaques contre la France
dans le quotidien "The Sun" qui
allie infos et sexe et demeure le plus
fort tirage des quotidiens de
Grande-Bretagne avec 3,5 millions
d'exemplaires. Sur un ton xénophobe, le
"Sun" multiplie depuis
plusieurs mois les insultes contre le
président français Jacques Chirac,
parfois comparé à Hitler ou Saddam
Hussein. Une édition spéciale
parisienne en février avait même
consacré sa une à M. Chirac le
représentant avec un corps de
"ver". Vendredi, le
"Sun" s'est à nouveau
distingué dans la francophobie en
publiant un photo-montage de cible pour
jeu de fléchettes avec J.Chirac au
centre. Rappelons que Tony Blair, avant
son élection comme Premier ministre en
1997, est allé rencontrer Rupert Murdoch
en Australie, obtenant un soutien
médiatique dans ses deux campagnes de
1997 et 2001 où il a été réélu. M.
Murdoch a apporté à la mi-février son
soutien à la politique irakienne du
président américain George W. Bush.

satellite R. Murdoch (Newscorp) contrôle
parmi les plus importants titres
"Fox News", "the New-York
Post" et "The Weekly
Standard" aux Etats-Unis, et en plus
de "The Sun", "The Times",
"The Sunday Times" et
"News of the World" au Royaume
uni, enfin "The Australian"
l'unique quotidien national en Australie.
Tous ses éditorialistes ont apporté à
George Bush un soutien sans faille tout
en dénigrant, quand elles n'étaient pas
passées sous silence, les campagnes des
pacifistes. |
